Community Group Training  is running a national competition with prizes of 50 online accredited development courses available for 50 community groups and charities in the UK.
Claire Arthur, Director of Community Group Training, part of the National Training Academy, explained why they were running the competition. She said:

“Having worked with various community groups and charities over the last 11 years, it has become increasingly apparent that there is a need for affordable training to help the development of small community and voluntary groups who support thousands of volunteers each week.”

She added:

“We ensure all of the courses we offer are at a minimum a Level 2 standard – which is the same standard you would expect at GCSE level.”

The provider works with the public sector organisations, housing associations, training providers and charities including Milton Keynes Council, Aspire Housing and Train to Equip.

What training is available?

The training covers various topics from safeguarding and health & safety, to fundraising skills and staff and volunteer management.
Emma Roberts, who runs ‘Not Just Mums’ playgroup in Trent Vale, Staffordshire said:

“We have always just got on with it at the nursery but then found Community Group Training and decided that having accredited learning would benefit the playgroup as a whole. I have recently completed my first course in Committee Skills and am looking forward to doing more in the future”.
