Kingston Smith competition offers free film for charity

Accountants and charity specialists Kingston Smith are inviting charities to enter their competition to win a free short brand film, worth £150,000 in terms of production work.
The Kingston Smith Creative Vision Award for Charities is open to any UK registered charity. The winner will receive a 30-40 second film or commercial designed to promote their message, and suitable for any medium e.g. online, TV, video.
There is no cost to the winning charity. “All costs of film production will be covered, as will any travel expenses incurred if representatives from the winning charity choose to be physically present at the panel judgements”.
The film will be created by students during the BFX Festival, “using cutting edge VFX and animation techniques”.
The idea for the film prize sprung from Kingston Smith’s successful support for Aardman’s short film commemorating World War 1, ‘The Flight of the Stories’ (nominated for an Annie award), commissioned by the Imperial War Museum.

Criteria

Applications will be based on:
• The extent to which they can demonstrate the benefit that a film would have in the promotion of their cause
• A clear strategy for how they would put the film to best use
• The creative potential of the ideas they put forward for the content of the film
The ownership of the winning brand film will be shared between the charity, the production teams, BFX, Bournemouth University and Kingston Smith.
Entries to the Creative Vision Award should be submitted by 2 February 2015.
The winning charity will be announced on 13 February and its film presented in September.
