Healthcare company Bupa has selected Age UK as its strategic charity partner in the UK. The company aims to raise £1 million for the charity over the next two years.
This is Bupa’s first UK-wide charity partnership. The company will integrate activity throughout its business activities, encouraging its 32,000 employees to help raise funds, for example through initiatives such as the Charity’s 10k and 2k series of running events, Age UK and innocent’s Big Knit and Age UK’s The Big Chinwag. Employees will also be invited to volunteer for the charity.
The funds raised will be used to support the charity’s information and advice services including Age UK’s Call in Time telephone friendship service where Bupa staff will also volunteer. They will also support programmes such as lunch clubs, exercise classes and befriending schemes through the Age UK network in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Funds raised will go distributed appropriately to Age Cymru, Age Scotland and Age Northern Ireland.
Richard Bowden, Managing Director at Bupa UK commented:

“The fit between our organisations is perfect and through our partnership we want to engage our people, customers and wider society to feel positive about ageing – because with the right planning and support everyone should be able to age well. We’re ambitious for our partnership, aiming to raise £1million over the next two years.”

Bupa has previously supported charities such as Diabetes UK and Alzheimer’s Society through the Bupa Great Run series. In contrast, this new partnership will integrate across all aspects of Bupa UK from employees to customers and beyond.
