Comic Relief launches bespoke online prize draws for Red Nose Day

Digital lottery specialists Capen Consultants have worked with Comic Relief to provide a number of prize-draw websites for its corporate partners for Red Nose Day.
Each prize draw microsite has been customised to match the corporate partner’s brand.

Public ‘hero’ prize draw

Comic Relief is also running a ‘hero’ prize draw for the general public with the prize of a Toyota Auris, worth over £20,000. This car has been custom designed and made for Red Nose Day.
Every entry made into one of the corporate partners’ draws also secures an entry into the hero draw, doubling peoples’ chances of winning. Each entry costs £2 and the website encourages people to make multiple entries, indicating what such totals can help Comic Relief achieve.

Payments to enter the prize draw are handled by the ‘Capen 2.0 widget’. This allows charities to take payments on their own website for campaigns without coming under the PCI DSS requirements for secure transactions.
Capen‘s platform handles validating supporter input and securing supporters’ card payment data. As a result supporters do not have to leave the charity website.
Katherine Macklin, Comic Relief Fundraising Development Manager, said:

“We’re always looking to test new and innovative ways to engage our supporters and this campaign was also a great opportunity to fulfil the needs of our corporate partners too. Rather than a traditional paper raffle, this tool has the flexibility to open up draws to employees and customers right across the country, maximising their chance to raise funds.”
