MS Society wins major marketing award

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has won the top award in the charities category a in this week's Chartered Institute of Marketing/Marketing Week Marketing Effectiveness Awards.

VSO's raffle winner bought ticket online

Hazel Sopp from Cambridge entered the draw online via a pop-up box on VSO's homepage.

The winner of the £2,500 first prize in the VSO Summer Raffle 2002 entered the draw online via the VSO Web site. This was the first year that VSO, the international development charity that works through volunteers, had offered online ticket purchasing for its raffle.

Oxfam rejects £5,000 donation from author

Oxfam GB has turned down a donation of royalties from a controversial book.

It is not often that charities can legitimately reject a donation. Oxfam GB, however, has done so in the case of a book by Ted Honderich, formerly Professor of Mind and Logic at University College, London. Honderich wished to donate his advance of £5,000 to the charity.
