Nielsen Norman Group report on children's and older people's use of the Web

The Nielsen Norman Group have reported their findings on how children and older people use the Web.

Children like the use of Flash on the Web but do not like scrolling down a page. They do read online instructions and will click on adverts. Boys tend to surf alone, while girls are more likely to surf with their mother.

Online donors prefer e-mail communication from charities

Justgiving.com reports that most online donors at charity's Web sites agree to pass on their details to the charity, and they want to hear back via e-mail.

Online donors are more likely to share their personal details if they give at a charity's Web site than if they give at a generic multi-charity portal, according to online donation service Justgiving.com.

Young People want to be part of the Giving Nation

An NOP poll for the Giving Campaign has found that secondary school pupils are very keen to raise funds for charity at school.

The survey of 1,125 secondary school pupils aged 11-16 years found that 76% currently help to raise money for charity at school and 57% would like to do more for charity through their school.

Charity Finance Directors announce future plans

The Charity Finance Directors' Group (CFDG) have today set out their agenda for the future. "Charity Management, the Way Ahead" is aimed at decision makers and opinion formers in Government and Charities.

RSPCA wins charity award in New Media Age awards

The RSPCA has won the charity category in the New Media Age Effectiveness Awards.

RSPCA's online strategy won the award because the judges deemed it "an excellent example of how to use the Web for activism, prospect acquisition and more efficient use of staffing resources."

Chairman of Lloyds TSB Foundation awarded CBE

Joanna Foster, Chairman of Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The award recognises her efforts in the world of work and equal opportunities.

Blackbaud announces TechnOvation Award

Fundraising technology company Blackbaud is seeking nominations for a new international award that honors technological leadership at nonprofit organisations.

The TechnOvation Award will be presented this October to three organisations that exhibit innovative leadership in their use of Blackbaud software.

Survey finds fundraisers disatisfied with fundraising software

A survey by IT specialists Tate Bramald has confirmed that fundraisers are not satisfied with the fundraising software on offer to them.

The survey reported that there are over 100 fundraising software systems in use in the UK, leading to an "immature market." The 51 respondents to the questionnaire used 14 different packages.
