In Kind Direct reports 26% increase in value of goods distributed

In Kind Direct, the charity that coordinates UK-wide in kind giving, has reported that £5.3 million worth of goods reached UK voluntary organisations, a 26% increase on the previous year.

In its Annual Report In Kind Direct summarises a successful year, and predicts that it will distribute goods worth £6 million in 2003.

Co-op staff get Procter & Gamble involved in hospices appeal

Co-operative Group staff, who are raising money for the Association of Children's Hospices, have enlisted the help of Procter & Gamble to bolster further an already successful "Co-op Caring Together" campaign.

Radio show discussing fundraising cancelled

BBC radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show tomorrow will not now be discussing fundraising and campaigning as originally planned.

Last week, as reported by UK Fundraising, the Institute of Fundraising asked fundraisers to take part in a radio discussion about aggressive tactics by charities. The show was due to be aired on 1 October 2003.

Avon Cosmetics reaches £10m mark for breast cancer in the UK

The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade has raised a £10 million for UK breast cancer charities, including Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Macmillan Cancer Relief.


The total was reached by Avon's representatives and customers throughout the UK just over 10 years after the Crusade began.

New report on charity sector from Mintel

Consumer intelligence supplier Mintel's latest charities report confirms that the changes in tax-efficient giving legislation in 2000 have been successful in increasing charities' income.

Mintel's latest report on the charities sector reveals that the amount donated to charity through payroll giving reached £73 million in 2001/02 and an estimated £86 million in 2002/03.

New Royal Patron for children's charity

HRH Princess Michael of Kent

Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent is the new Patron of national children's charity Dreams Come True.

Dreams Come True was established in 1988 and aims to fulfil the treasured dreams of sick and terminally ill children.

Commenting on her decision to become Patron, H.R.H. Princess Michael of Kent said:
