December 3rd

Action Planning moves online

Fundraising consultancy Action Planning have announced the launch of their Web site.

At the same time they have announced in their newsletter Action Link that they will design a free Web site for any new client signing a contract over £2000 with them before the end of December.

Cambridge charity Emmaus is using the Web to extend the value of Terry Waite presenting a BBC Lifeline appeal on their behalf on Sunday December 7th at 5 p.m.

Emmaus' site contains the script that Waite will use, thereby extending its powerful reach, both in time and geographically, beyond those who tune in to the appeal.

Giving in America

The American Philanthropy Review has launched another e-mail discussion forum for fundraisers, World_USA.

This new list focuses on the challenges of non-USA charities raising funds from USA individuals, foundations, and corporations. It is open to individuals of any nation in the world having an interest in the topic of non-USA charities raising support from America.

Christmas is a time for giving - online

Various charities are launching online fundraising activities in the run-up to Christmas.

Imperial Cancer Research Fund have teamed up with ShoppersUniverse to sell a Christmas quiz over the Web.

CHASE '98 dates confirmed

CHASE, the Charities and Associations Exhibition, is coming to Covent Garden again on January 27th and 28th 1998.

The exhibition and all the seminars and demonstrations are free to all visitors. This year you can register online at no charge.

US fundraising info for UK fundraisers

What does the US offer for UK and European fundraisers? Can you raise funds from the US? Are you likely to get funds only from foundations, or are there other sources?

Nancy Joste and David Wickert, formerly with CAFAmerica, are launching a series of products and services from their company Chapel & York to help non-US charities raise money in the US.

Surfaid promotion

Surfaid, the Internet affinity scheme raising funds for Christian Aid, is promoting itself through a competition in The Times' Interface supplement.

Prizes available include Hayes modems and Microsoft software.

Child sponsorship intranet proposed

International development agency Actionaid is planning to create a "cyber-sponsorship information bank" to help keep the donors who sponsor individual children in the Third World informed of developments.
