UK Fundraising welcomes a new columnist this month. Peter Wylie will be writing a monthly column on fundraising databases. Peter holds a doctorate in industrial psychology from Columbia University, and is an expert on how non-profit organisations can do a far more efficient job of fund raising by carefully mining their donor databases.

Conference Registry Online TM, from the American Philanthropy Review, is an international registry of conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and other events of interest to the nonprofit and NGO community. The service not only lists conferences on its Web site but will also deliver an announcement of the conference to every CharityChannel.com forum subscriber.

Wild domain name

Edinburgh Zoo is hoping to raise £600,000 for its big cats. It's new Web site, although it can't accept donations, shows how charities are using domain names creatively. The site, created by Scotland Online, is at www.lionsandtigers.scotland.net

British Heart Foundation's site reviewed

Revolution magazine gives a positive review of the British Heart Foundation's Web site, but believes that it is "too reticent" in its online fundraising. "Although charities must be careful about asking for cash up front, the BHF is a bit too reticent - you have to go to the 'Getting Involved' section for the online donation facility.

Fundraising package

For the fourth year running Parcelforce Worldwide has helped underprivileged children in eastern Europe by collecting parcels for an international children's charity. "Operation Christmas Child," a special project run by the Samaritan's Purse International Charity, has delivered Christmas treats to needy children in 12 impoverished and war-torn eastern European countries.
