Agency Republic spins off division to serve charity sector

Integrated media agency Agency Republic has created Social Republic, a new unit which will provide services specifically to charities and organisations involved in social change.

Social Republic will be run by Peter Askew, the co-founder of Agency Republic. It will offer advertising, direct marketing and digital skills to create campaigns for a range of charity and non-profit clients.

BBC repeats Working in the Community series again

The BBC is repeating the Working in the Community series again from 3rd - 14th November on BBC2 from 5am - 6am.

BBC Learning Zone, BBC TWO's overnight record and play education service, will rescreen its series of programmes about working in the community next month. It was last repeated in August 2003.

Scope tests texting on the street and doorstep

Disability charity Scope has been testing combining texting with street and doorstep fundraising.

Scope worked with its professional fundraising agency Fruitful Fundraising and its technology partner SMStextgiving to test giving people an option of giving or campaigning through texting.

NCVO calls for 12% tax on National Lottery to be split between good causes and prizes

New Managing Director at Rural Regeneration Unit

Mal Treharne is the new Managing Director at the Rural Regeneration Unit (RRU), the offshoot of the Countryside Alliance that is dedicated to finding practical solutions to challenges facing rural economies and society.

He will take up the post at the RRU's Strategic IT Centre at Hagley in the West Midlands on 1 November 2003.
