UK Fundraising search facility now available

UK Fundraising's search facility is back. It's been improved in line with the new version of the site, and should help you pinpoint the fundraising information you need.

After a brief gap, you can once again search the whole of UK Fundraising. Try the site search box that appears in the top left-hand corner of every page, and you should notice a number of improvements.

NCH in £150,000 partnership with Comet

Children's charity NCH has been chosen as electrical retailer Comet's official corporate charity for 2003/2004.

Starting in May 2003 the company has set itself a fundraising target of £150,000 for the year's activities.

Comet will be organising a variety of events to raise money for the charity

Online appeal raises £52,000 for injured Iraqi boy

An emergency appeal launched by a small charity has raised £52,000 online before Gift Aid. This represents 20% of the appeal's total of £250,000.

The Limbless Association has raised more than £52,000 online before Gift Aid with its appeal for 12-year-old Ali Ismaeel Abbas, who lost both his arms in a bombing raid on Baghdad.

BHF and Tetley recognise volunteers with award

Tetley tea and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) have presented awards to exceptional BHF Shop volunteers who have gone the extra mile for the heart charity.

The national search to find 'Tetley Champions' was also intended to highlight the work of BHF Shop volunteers and encourage more people to volunteer in their local BHF store.

Macmillan publishes new welcome booklet for its donors

Macmillan Cancer Relief's new donor booklet is designed to illustrate that the charity's work is more than just its famous nurses.

The booklet features the work of a Macmillan Doctor, Radiographer, Benefits Advisor and a Development Co-ordinator for Black and Minority Ethnic Communities, as well as a nurse.

Cats Protection reaches finals of IDM awards

Cats Protection is the only charity to have been short-listed for the final round of judging in the 2003 IDM Business Performance Awards.

The charity says that its direct marketing strategy, developed with TDA, is making a "significant impact on business performance." The programme has focused on generating regular giving rather than one-off donations.

New edition of guide to charitable status published

The Directory of Social Change has published a new edition of one of the most popular guides to charity law.

"Charitable Status: A Practical Handbook" by Andrew Phillips, has been re-released to help charities comply with the myriad of laws
applying to them. It is aimed at trustees, charity workers, lawyers and accountants needing a working introduction to the subject.
