£2 a week 'will save the world'

That was the headline on the Metro, a London free newspaper last week. It brings tears to your eyes to think that the ask for a regular contribution from a charity could achieve so much.

We've heard how important such appeals are: now Metro has confirmed that.

Unfortunately, it wasn't charity fundraising that was getting the front page treatment. Instead the headline referred to the amount each person in Britain will have to pay "to help Europe tackle climate change".
