WOW - World Orphan Week

World Orphan Week
8-14 February 2010

Take part in World Orphan Week

Did you know every 2.2 seconds a child loses a parent?

Help us to give another 1,000 orphaned children a new family for life…

SOS Children, the world’s largest orphan charity, is asking people of all ages to do something amazing during World Orphan Week (8-14 February 2010) to help give more orphaned children a family for life.

Anyone can take part in World Orphan Week. Whether you choose to sponsor a child for £20 a month (www.soschildren.org), throw a dinner party (www.foodforfriends.uk.net), get your school to follow one of our specially designed lesson plans, or get your company to join in Bowler Hat Day (www.bowlerhatday.com) anything goes! By registering online at www.soschildren.org/wow you can receive your free fundraising pack.

SOS Children is the world's largest orphan charity and provides a family for life for children who have lost their parents through war, famine, disease and poverty. Over 78,000 orphaned and abandoned children are cared for by SOS mums in clusters of family homes in more than 500 of our unique Children's Villages in 124 countries worldwide.

There are 145 million orphaned children in the world, and 100 million more have been abandoned to live on the streets. Our goal during World Orphan Week is to give 1,000 more orphaned children a mother, home, and family for life.

Our main partner for WOW 2010 is the Monsoon Accessorize Trsut who have created a fabulous children’s t-shirt for us from which 100 of the profits will go directly to SOS Children. They will be ready to buy in stores from January!

Celebrity supporters including Chronicles of Narnia actress Georgie Henley, TV presenters Phil Spencer and Louise Minchin and Tottenham Hotspur FC have all got behind WOW, so what are you waiting for?

Help us achieve our goal for World Orphan Week - to give another 1,000 orphaned children a new family for life.
