Can anyone recommend a supplier of t-shirts (which provides printing on t-shirts as well) and which is 'ethical' ie sourcing from fair trade/ eco friendly sources? There was a question about running vests some time ago and some companies were suggested but I'm finding it difficult to locate an 'ethical' supplier. We want to get around 50 t-shirts printed with our logo.
Thank you.

We manufacture our T-shirts in India from factories which employ workers of legal age. Worker rights are strictly enforced in India as it is a democratic country. We would be cheaper than all supliers in UK as we cut out all the middlemen betweeen you and the factories.

For that quantity, it's probably not going to be cost effective to get them
printed in any case. I'd suggest buying plain shirts from a trusted source,
and taking them (armed with your artwork on disc) to your local Prontaprint
(or Colour Co if you're near to one). They will run off colour prints at a
reasonable charge.

Dear all
I have a small company I deal with based in E Sussex. They are very good.
They are used to handling small quantities and special one off requests.

Hi Toral,
Traidcraft is the UK's largest fair trade organisation. It is made up of
Traidcraft Exchange (a charity) and Traidcraft plc (a trading company). We
can supply fair trade t-shirts printed with your own design, but we normally
ask for a minimum order of 300 - any less isn't cost effective. A smaller
order may be possible if you want to buy them blank, but you would need to
get them printed elsewhere. If you want to discuss it further contact Sarah
Sutherland, Sales and Marketing Manager (sarahs@traidcraft.co.uk
or 0191 4976544). If we can't help I'm
sure Sarah can point you in the right direction.

Try Ethical Threads at www.ethicalthreads.co.uk They are a relatively new
company set up by Battersea and Wandsworth TUC and GMB London Region in
response to the difficulty of getting T-shirts etc that aren't made by
child or sweated labour. I know they've been supplying music events,
including Billy Bragg's latest tour, and they say that their t-shirts cost
£1 per piece more than ones from sweated labour. I don't know if they deal
with small volume orders, but if they don't they might be able to point you
in the direction of someone who does.
