Traidcraft is a development NGO. Some of our funds come from UK
foundations, and a little from US foundations. We have contacts with some
European foundations - especially in Holland - but have had no support. I
want to estimate whether it is worth us putting more effort into looking for
funds from European foundations and, if so, how best to go about it.

'Is it worth it?' means knowing how much European foundation money is given
across EU borders (and, ideally, how much comes to UK NGOs). And obviously
the foundations in some EU countries will be more open to this than others -
so some country by country analysis would be idea - as would a breakdown by
the type of work supported.

'How to go about it?' will obviously include some research (bids are
welcome!), but also others may have experience of how important personal
visits or in-country links are, for example.

There is no web information (I think) with an 'across Europe' view (in the
way that the Foundation Center views the US). Hence this email. Comments
gratefully received..
