Idea for raising £3.6million per year for Charities

in

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to put this out but i really want to see what people think about my idea.

Now, the working population of the UK is roughly 30 million people. None of those 30 million people would miss 1 pence from their monthly pay packet.

30 million x £0.01 = £300,000

Surely surely surely, with a little bit of campaigning, we could make it so that there is a contribution of just 1p made from every pay packet each month. 1 pence every month is nothing to anybody, but £30 million 1 pence's every month can make an enormous difference to those less fortunate than us in this country and others, for example the poverty stricken areas in Africa. I'm sure this idea has been thought of many many times before, but i just can't understand why nothing is done about it. The contribution wouldn't effect anybody in anyway, yet together it could make £3.6million every year for charity. Maybe the contribution could be £1 instead of 1p, that too would have no effect on anybody and could generate £360million per year. However, i believe the best thing about the fact that it's onle 1p is THE FACT THAT IT IS ONLY 1p!!!! There would be no resistence from anybody, there would be no costs, just 1p taken from every pay packet and giving to an organisation who then pays out 100% of the money directly to those that need it.

How this is implemented is a different matter, that's where i'm stuck. Where do i start? Who do i go to? How do i make this country make this a reality? This sounds like such an obvious idea, i'm sure i'm not the first to think it, but the fact is that it's not being done, surely it just takes 1 person to start pushing for it and then we could raise millions every year.

Just an idea, would appreciate everyone letting me know what you think.
