quiz night..again

Hi I'm new to this and i know it has been posted about a lot. We are hoping to some fundraisers before the next marathon which aren't too time consuming. Has anyone had luck with holding a quiz at their local pub? If so any tips? Has anyone ever used a local celebrity to be the quizmaster? We're trying to think of a way to bring the public in and hopefully charge a bit more for the tickets without supplying food etc...

Amen to Howard's comments.
You don't say what you're raising money for, and this is very important in any fundraising. Tell people how much you want to raise, and what you want to do with it.
I have friends who do a pub quiz for their church more or less annually. They don't charge much for the tickets, but there are always one or two opportunities to extract further contributions from us.
By concentrating on making sure we have a good night, the organisers ensure that we are all ready to be generous, and most of the participants are from other churches or none - it's not just their own faithful who join in.

Add a raffle
As well as, or instead of charging more, you could consider running a raffle as part of the quiz. A good half-time opportunity to go round the tables, once everyone is having a good time, and give the audience another reason to give.
It worked well at a quiz I went to last week.
