help needed, for a school fundraising project

Submitted by james123 on 5 March, 2008 - 17:33.

Hello everyone, i do hope that you could help me. I have recently been appointed 6-form fundraising leader for my school, and as i am a pupil i don't know where to go to ask for money?

We would like to update the furniture that was placed in our 6-form room as spares from other departments, and make it feel more welcoming to the other schools that have lessons at our school. We also wish to have an area that is more sociable than a lesson enviroment, and a more informal taste. We aim to try to buy sofas, Coffee tables, television stand, television, kitchen equipment, cushions and to give our 6-form secetary a updated office bureau, which also acts as our information stand.

With regards to fundraising events, we have already done a number of things. We held a Halloween Party, Christmas Party and a Sleepover.we have also held many raffles. I also managed to get a £500 cheque from Jaguar. I am a student and need help where else i could go.

I would like to know where else i can ask for money to help our fundraising efforts. I have contacted some local companies, but need to know where to go next to get some more funds. Any ideas? Also has anyone else managed to get any funding from ikea?

School fundraising project

Just a thought, but have you tried companies that supply school equipment or furniture companies that are trying to break into this market? The reason I say this is you could offer yourselves as a 'marketing opportunity'. For the equipment they get to use your photos and testimonials to other schools and within their brochures - a before and after makeover...? You could also contact the TV companies that do these mini makeovers - I used to work for a charity that managed to get one of these programmes to refit an entire suite - if they can do it for scouts huts - they can do it for you. The secret is in how you package it to them - lots of hearts and minds.....Good luck. Pam
