Fundraising for Scholarship Programme

Submitted by Joanna on 4 April, 2008 - 15:36.

Hi

I am currently trying to fundraise from Trusts & Foundations for our scholarship programme for Undergraduate, MBA and MSc courses. I am researching trusts and foundations through various databases and directories but wondered if anyone would know of specific trusts or databases where I could reserach this information. I am currently looking at Guidestar and Trust Funding.

I am further compounded that I work in a Development Department of a business school which is part of a university which has its own Development Department which was set up several years before. As a consequence a they have already bagged a lot of the key trusts.

Hi, Joanna

In the face of in-house competition, and given that you are a Business School, I think I would be looking to develop links with businesses much more than Trusts and Foundations - developing the next generation of Alan Sugars probably doesn't hit many charitable buttons!

If you're looking at Trustfunding, I would rate that as the best tool for this type of research.

Who's Who or Debrett's People of Today might be useful in broadening your search to wealthy individuals, company directors etc.

Academic fundraising is not my speciality, but there's my thoughts.

Cheers

Gerry
