Hi,
I work for an overseas development NGO. We have places for this years Berlin (28th September) and Chicago (12th October) marathons abroad but we are finding it really hard to sell these places. We had no problem recruiting runners for the London or New York marathons but are concerned that perhaps these are less popular marathons.
Does anyone have any tips of where and how we could get rid of these places or if anyone has had similar experiences with marathon places abroad.
Thanks for your help!
Kind regards
Jenny

Three thoughts
Hi, Jenny
Three thoughts, which possibly come into the category of "the blindingly obvious"!
You are looking at fairly hard-core athletes here - you need to be advertising in the networks they frequent. As a connected thought, and if you purchase these places annually, have you considered offering them as a package? Four marathons in one package might be attractive to them.
Do you have supporters in Germany and North America? Can they help out here?
Have you considered looking for local runners in Germany or northern USA? It may be challenging, but probably not impossible, to raise funds on the back of a local runner, and just think about the carbon saving!
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Gerry
