I am from a small youth club.
This summer we are thinking of starting a free summer school for the local kids at our local community centre (BME community).
We are thinking of running the summer school for the whole holidays, or just on the weekends.
So I wanted to find out of the possible funders who may fund such summer activities for the kids.
1 - Could you kindly identify some funders who fund educational activities, summer schooling and youth activities.
2 - Also, my local community centre wishes to install PA system (Mics and audio equipments).
Which funders can we approach to apply for such fundings?
Is there any list of funders that I can search myself?
Thanks very much

Start last year
Many funders only meet every so often, sometimes only once a year even.
To get something funded for this summer the process should have started last year.
Possibly for next year?
Offhand children in need spring to mind, there are a number of funders looking at youth events.
Volant charitable trust might be worth looking at too - set up by a lady with the surname Rowling.
Hmmm...come to think of it, are you a charity? Or can a charity act for you?
There's also the Lottery for money too - ring 08454 10 20 30 (their advice line).

Funder leads
We would be able to give more useful advice if you could tell us where you have tried already. However, hope some of the below helps.
Your local volunteer bureau, CVS or council community unit (one or all of them) should have a funder directory and be able to help. Once you have a list of funders that may be suitable, please do check the funders own information (usually on their websites).
The Association of Charitable Foundations is a membership for trusts and foundations in the UK.
A list of members is available on ACF's website at http://www.acf.org.uk/
Unfortunately, there is no substitute for spending a bit of time doing some "homework".
