Face Painting Regulations

Submitted by Elizabeth on 23 July, 2008 - 13:06.

Please could someone let me know the regulations relating to face Painting? We are thinking of having volunteers run a face painting stand at our upcoming Open Day and I have been told that they need to have insurance to do this. I have never heard this before - does anyone know if it would be adequate to display a disclaimer or do volunteer face painters need insurance?

Thanks

Face painting

Face painters should have liability insurance- in case somoene reacts to the paint, gets poked with a brush, etc.
If you are going to have volunteers paint, be careful as you must be sure to use top quality equqipment and supplies- something people who paint for free rarely have.
You can have a disclaimer, but again if your volunteers are unpaid, they are likely also untrained and therfore your disclaimer isnt up to much.
I volunteer and paint for free, but only within a certain number of miles and for certain charities0 my kit costs over £300- something too much to give away.
Contact local painters and ask for a deal- better to pay than have a poor result.
