Charity shop running at a loss

in

Hi

I'm helping a local hospice with their fundraising and it seems their charity shop is running at a loss of about £50K a year. What's the industry norm with charity shops...are they turning healthy profits these days or is the economy such that they should consider renting out the space and making more on the rental income.

I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on this when they have a moment.

Many thanks,

Dan.
