Are there too many fundraising events?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or can even point me to any articles or research on this topic.

Im referring to the various fundraising events such as Red Cross Week, Macmillan Coffee Morning, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, etc. There are now quite a few of these events so I was wondering whether donors/potential donors are being swamped by these special events or not. It seems that most charities have an event of this type and they vary according to how successful they are. What does the future hold or what is likely to happen with regard to these events?

Any feedback/ideas/thoughts are welcome. :)
