Cost of PayPal vs credit card Merchant Account?

Our charity takes all online payments for subscriptions and sales through PayPal, I wondered if it might be cheaper/more effective to set up a credit card Merhant Account.

I'd be grateful for any thoughts, advice, relevant links on this.
