Non Charity online donation

Hi everyone,
My situation is that I have decided to do a fundraising cycle ride for a care home that is already government funded. Therefore it cannot be classed as a charity.
I want to encorporate an online donation system however as you probably know Justgiving etc require a charity number.
Is it legal to use a paypal donation button on my website or can anyone suggest ways in which I can get around this problem?
