Hi,
I work for a charity and we are considering offering supporters the opportunity to do a parachute jump for us. We ask them to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship (£395) and we are invoiced by the company providing the jump for £270 per jump. This leaves a minimum of £125 of the sponsorship money for our charity.
As I understand it the amount of £270 is not eligible for Gift Aid. When people raise all their money online through Virgin Money Giving, the first £270 should not be Gift Aided but as it is the donor who indicated whether their donation can be Gift Aided, is it ok to rely on them not ticking the Gift Aid box until the amount of £270 is reached? Or should that first £270 always be raised offline to ensure only eligible donation are Gift Aided?
I am quite confused and would really appreciate any advice or thoughts on this!
With kind regards,
Rachel
