Hi,
We are thinking of applying to do some London tube collections. Previously we have applied for 6 large stations on the same day but were given 5 smaller ones. We collected have collected at 7.30-9.00 am and 4.30-6.30 pm. It raised just over £400, however, as the main focus of the ‘collection’ was actually to promote an upcoming event it is difficult to tell how much more we might have got had we been focusing just on collecting. If you have any experience of bucket collections at tube stations in London please could you tell me:
1) What stations you have found to be most lucrative? Bearing in mind that you will sometimes be allocated a tube stop which is near the one you originally applied for is there a tactical way of ensuring that you end up with a good spot?
2) What time of day have you found to be best?
3) How long do you think volunteers should be asked to collect for?
4) Is there any advantage / disadvantage of collecting in a tube stop which is part of a mainline station (less profitable ratio of tourists to commuters perhaps)?
5) Is there any advantage / disadvantage of collecting in a stop with several exits?
6) How much would you expect to collect per station per day?
Thanks very much,
Ffion Thomas
