Personal Fund Raising

in

My Wife has been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer with metastases in her liver, lung and pelvis. The prognosis is 5 years with no cure but we can treat it. We've researched on the internet and on the west coast of America an organisation called the Cancer Institute have made great strides in a non toxic chemo therapy which has been giving great results including remition.

We've contacted them to gain info about the treatment and ultimately the cost. They've advised we can send my wife's information for them to make a decision on if she could be considered as a candidate. The cost of the treatment alone is upto 2000 US $ a week. Then there would be accommodation and living expenses. The treatment would be for an 8 week period.

Based on the above can you advise me on the legal or statutory regulations/requirements i would need to be aware of in order to undertake/set up fund raising to attain the finances required should she be eligible for the treatment. Would someone separate to myself have to set up an organisation and register it for instance. I just do not know how to begin.

Any information you can provide at this stage would be greatly appreciated.
