Here's a great fundraising idea that we just tried and it was a BIG success! And it's very simple to action..... We basically organised a foreign coin collection at school, that is we got all the kids and parents (and friends of parents... and companies of parents etc etc) to donate their foreign coins! OK, so you're thinking "why would they do that?" and the answer is simple.... NO BANKS (or post office/bureau de change) will exchange foreign coins back into british pounds - so they are useless (unless you remember to take them on holiday, which most of us don't!). We collected all the coins (we used collection envelopes from a company called cash4coins.co.uk which have gift aid declaration as well) and then Cash 4 coins collected them, counted and sorted all the mix of stuff we sent them and paid us...! It was all very painless (I'm glad to say).
It's very easy to do and I wanted to share the idea as I know it could really help a lot of charities as well as schools and clubs.
