No applicants have come forward to date from County Galway to participate in a major fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society. With Daffodil Day fast approaching on March 24 the Irish Cancer Society is calling on companies across Galway to get 'Back to the Shop Floor' for Daffodil Day.

Irish third world charity Goal raised ‚€180,000 this Christmas after 10,000 people turned out to run or walk the charity mile at 43 different locations. The money will go towards Goal's humanitarian work in a number of countries.

Alicia Keys and Bono are hoping to save the lives of children through song. The two superstars have collaborated on 'Don't Give Up (Africa),' and will donate all proceeds to Keep A Child Alive, which provides medicine to members of families infected with Aids and HIV.

A race begins today between Ireland's top investment houses that will raise over ‚€100,000 for disability charity Rehab. The Rehab Great Investment Race has netted over ‚€500,000 since it began in 2001.

Dublin based stockbroker and corporate financier Merrion Captial has donated all commissions earned from its clients during business for one day to Action Breast Cancer. The initiative is to mark Pink Ribbon Day which aims to raise awareness and money.

A prisoner wants to get out of Limerick jail and do a runner, according to the Irish Examiner. Not to flee, but rather leg it back in behind bars. And yesterday he told the prison authorities about his plan which is all in aid of charity fundraising.

Participants in the Ulster Cancer Foundation's Ben Nevis walk will reach £1 million raised over the last five years when the next walk begins in August. 3,000 people have scaled the 4,408ft summit since the walks began in 2000.
Neill Granger, Development Officer with UCF, said the Ben Nevis challenge was one of their most successful events.

The Irish Heart Foundation is inviting people to go to Cuba from 25th October - 6th November 2005 to raise money for the charity.
Starting and finishing in Havana, the walkers will be expected to walk a minimum of 10 miles per day. They will also be expected to raise ‚€4,800.
The Foundation raises over ‚€225,000 annually from overseas walks.
