The death of golfer Darren Clarke's wife, Heather, has seen the local branch of Marie Curie inundated with donations. Heather died after a long battle with breast cancer in her hometown of Dungannon in Northern Ireland.

Dublin Simon Community, which works with the city's homeless, has made two new appointments to its fundraising team. Aidan Stacey becomes Head of Fundraising and Communications and Emma-Jane Williams is Dublin Simon's new Events Fundraising Officer.

Following the retirement of their long time managing director John Connelly, Community Counselling Service (CCS), one of the world's largest fundraising consultancies, has appointed Charlie Michaud as the new MD. Connelly was involved with CCS and the charitable sector for 33 years.

UK Fundraising has expanded its services for fundraisers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Job vacancies, including an Ireland-only search tool, together with recruitment agencies and suppliers serving fundraisers throughout Ireland are now available on the site.

Paul Collins, head of fundraising at the Simon Community Northern Ireland, has been appointed to the post of Fundraising Manager at MS Ireland. Paul's new post will mean a move from Belfast to Dublin.
Collins has been with Simon for five years and previously worked with Oxfam.

Alicia Keys and Bono are hoping to save the lives of children through song. The two superstars have collaborated on 'Don't Give Up (Africa),' and will donate all proceeds to Keep A Child Alive, which provides medicine to members of families infected with Aids and HIV.

Atlantic Philanthropies Chief Executive John Healy has given an insight into the Foundation's policy on fundraising and sustainability in a recent interview with Alliance magazine. In a survey earlier in the year Atlantic was listed as one of the biggest foundations by grant size in Europe.

Fintan Bradley, director of AMA, based in Bangor, Northern Ireland, has made a sudden departure from the agency. Bradley built AMA Charity Services into one of the leading suppliers of telemarketing services to charities in the UK and Ireland.
AMA's clients include big charity names such as Concern, Oxfam, ActionAid Ireland, the Simon Community and the National Canine Defence League.

Northern Ireland charity Action Cancer has ended their protracted search for a new head of fundraising.
Dougie King, currently head of fundraising at mental health charity Praxis, will take up the post at Action Cancer soon.
Dougie previously ran the fundraising department at Disabililty Action, the main disability charity in Northern Ireland.
