j4b and Sefton CVS website generates £250,000 for local organisations

The Merseyside Funding Information Portal (MFIP), set up by UK grant research experts j4b and CVS and local authority funding advisers across Merseyside, has helped local organisations identify and secure over £250,000 in less than two years.

The income figure was arrived at following a survey of 150 members. Sefton CVS believes that, with more than 1500 active members already using the MFIP website, the actual
total it has helped groups raise could be as high as £2 million.

For Sefton CVS, Capacity Building Manager, Philip Hurst said: "We approached j4b to help us deliver key funding information using a website and enthuse Merseyside people and organisations about funding opportunities available".

The MFIP site receives up to 250 visitors each day. It
is designed to help members including individuals, community groups, voluntary organisations, registered charities and social enterprises from throughout Merseyside.

The website contains free advice, an online community and latest grant news. It also dovetails with j4b's online database of more than 5,000 daily-updated funding opportunities.

Last year the MFIP website won the ICT Hub National Awards for Most Effective Use of information and communications technology. The ICT Hub National Awards reward voluntary and community sector organisations for their application
of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and showcase their achievement as examples of good practice to inspire others.
