Fundraising (and freedom) are in the bag

Aiming to capitalise on the move away from plastic carrier bags Jubilee Action is selling a woven shopping bag for £5 that can also help rescue a child from life in slavery.

"Who says you can't change the world?" is the slogan on the side of the bags.

Caroline Saunders of Jubilee Action said: "By buying a Jubilee Action bag people will be helping rescue a child from the sex industry in India and getting a great useable product, all for only £5."

As well as raising funds the bags are designed to raise awareness for the children trafficked or born into the sex industry in India.

The production of the bags also helps with reintegrating victims of sex trafficking and modern slavery. Produced under Fair Trade conditions with locally sourced resources to reduce the carbon footprint, the bags are handmade by survivors of human trafficking in Nepal where the workers are given a safe job and a good income to build up a new life.
