Breast Cancer Care has been awarded the first £25,000 Charity Data Bursary from The REaD Group (TRG).

The charity will receive £25,000 worth of services and consultancy to help it further improve its data management over the next 12 months. The REaD Group will apply its Gone Away Suppression File (GAS), Xpression and The Bereavement Register together with MPS and PAF-checking filters to Breast Cancer Care's database. These will help eliminate out-of-date data, increase ROI and avoid wasteful direct mail in the charity's forthcoming donor campaigns.

Mark Roy, The REaD Group's CEO, said: "The response to our Charity Bursary was fantastic. Both the high number and calibre of submissions made choosing the inaugural recipient no easy task. So congratulations to Breast Cancer Care for putting forward such a compelling case for how our data management expertise and products could enhance their donor retention and recruitment capabilities."

The Bursary was presented in association with UK Fundraising, which will be reporting on how the partnership has helped Breast Cancer Care over the next 12 months.

Samia al Qadhi, Breast Cancer Care's CEO, said: "The welfare and trust of people affected by breast cancer is central to our work providing support and information, so it's critical we build our new direct marketing programme on excellent foundations. The Bursary is a really valuable contribution to our plans and we warmly thank The REaD Group and UK Fundraising for selecting our application."
