The Fountain Society is offering prize money totalling £2,250 for the best new fountain or water feature in the UK.
Sponsored by the Marsh Christian Trust, the 2009 Marsh/Fountain Society Award is open to all organisations, including charities and voluntary organisations. The Society's Chairman Peter Brown wrote to Third Sector magazine this week saying "we would like to locate fountains commissioned by the third sector."
Eligible fountains can be large or small, traditional or modern, complex or simple. The judges will be looking in particular for "exciting and stimulating use of water". They must have been completed in the four years ending in December 2008 and must be accessible for public enjoyment.
It is also essential that it is in full working order.
The deadline for entries is 31 December 2008.
