DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal reaches £15m

The Disaster Emergency Committee's Haiti Earthquake Appeal has now raised £15 million since the appeal was announced at 19.41 on
13 January 2010.

Online donations to the appeal reached £2 million within the first 36 hours (at 8am on 15 January), before the TV and radio appeals were broadcast later that day.

Those appeals generated £10 million in donations in the next 24 hours.

Online and phone donations have generated another £3 million in the 24 hours since that figure was reached.

The total figure for donations will be higher, as the £15 million sum covers online and phone donations only. It does not include SMS, postal and over-the-counter donations, not those from companies and fundraising events.
