Nearly half the UK (48%) population have already donated to the Haiti disaster appeal, according to research carried out over the weekend for the Charities Aid Foundation.

The DEC Haiti Earthquake appeal total reached £42 million on Friday, one week after its TV and radio broadcast appeals were made. The day before £4 million had been donated.
