Yahoo! hosts a Web-a-thon

Yahoo! is hosting a Web-a-thon for US children's charities.

Yahoo is hosting a Web-a-thon in aid of the Children's Miracle Network and children's hospitals in the US where secure credit card donations can be made. The event runs from 19th May to 8th June 1997.

New magazine for charities using the Internet

"Connecting", a new publication to help public and voluntary sector staff use the Internet effectively, has just been launched.

Connecting is published six times a year and is available for £21. It is published by Karen Meador who also offers other search and reporting services to charities and public sector organisations.

PlusLotto - first global charity lottery

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are aiming high with "the world's first global lottery for a humanitarian cause", PlusLotto.

Wanted: information about fundraising in developing countries

The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Washington DC, is helping finance the series of booklets for agencies in Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean who want to begin or improve their fundraising programs.

There will be a small payment in US dollars to a developing country organisation whose case study, idea, or anecdote appears in the booklets.

Canadian directory of grant-makers published online

Canadian fundraisers can now access details over Canadian and US foundations online.

The Canadian Fund Raising Directory from Canada Grants Service contains over 1,100 major Canadian and US foundations donating over $350 million per year in Canada to individuals and groups in various areas of interest.

New German magazine for fundraisers

Fundraising Magazin is a new magazine for German, Swiss and Austrian fundraisers.

The magazine is being published on the Gaia network for German charities.

Fundraising 101 offers guide to Canadian fundraisers

Fundraising 101 is intended to be useful primarily for Canadian fundraisers but much of the information is applicable to fundraising anywhere.

The newsletter is published six times a year and each issue is eight pages long.

IFRG looks for successor to CEO

The International Fund Raising Group (IFRG) has a vacancy for a Chief Executive.

The new appointment will succeed Per Stenbeck who is joining Greenpeace Sweden as Executive Director.
