A bottle of champagne is the prize for the writer of the funniest or most apt caption for a photo taken at the 1997 International Fund Raising Workshop.

The competition is being run by FundUK, the e-mail discussion list on fundraising in the UK. Entry is restricted to members of the list during December and January. So join the list and go quackers.

Charities Aid Foundation has published details about how donors can give to charities that provide disaster relief.

The information includes sections for both UK and international donors, in particular those who wish to give in a tax-efficient manner.

Internet Prospector, the respected monthly newsletter for fundraising prospect researchers, has added some new features.

Philanthropreneur

The Philanthropreneur newsletter is a new magazine which aims to publish examples of successful enterprise by nonprofits - "ways to make money and to save money."

Under its banner "sharing ideas you can take to the bank", the 8-page monthly newsletter will carry profiles of successful philanthropreneurs, guest columns, legal suggestions and "lots of reality-tested practical advice".

Health_Gift is another new e-mail discussion list from the American Philanthropy Review which focuses on health care philanthropy.

Giving in America

The American Philanthropy Review has launched another e-mail discussion forum for fundraisers, World_USA.

This new list focuses on the challenges of non-USA charities raising funds from USA individuals, foundations, and corporations. It is open to individuals of any nation in the world having an interest in the topic of non-USA charities raising support from America.

CHASE '98 dates confirmed

CHASE, the Charities and Associations Exhibition, is coming to Covent Garden again on January 27th and 28th 1998.

The exhibition and all the seminars and demonstrations are free to all visitors. This year you can register online at no charge.

Child sponsorship intranet proposed

International development agency Actionaid is planning to create a "cyber-sponsorship information bank" to help keep the donors who sponsor individual children in the Third World informed of developments.
