World Famous Birmingham Children's Hospital set to raise £1.5 million

The world famous Birmingham Children's Hospital, is hoping to raise £1.5 million to help the 1,500 children and young people who visit the Renal Unit each year.

With the support of help.co.uk, the hospital is hoping children and young people from across the country will get involved by either registering fundraising events on help.co.uk, or by making donations through the site.

The much needed £1.5 million will enable the specialist renal unit’s move from the current location in an old 1960’s building, to a modern, light purpose-built facility.

Parents across the UK can pledge their support for the hospital’s Kidney Kids appeal by creating a free online page at help.co.uk, to promote their fundraising events and encourage other people to get involved.

“A spokesperson for Birmingham Children’s Hospital added: “Being in hospital can be a difficult, bewildering and often scary experience for anyone – and particularly for children. We believe that we should make it as comfortable and relaxing as possible and are working to create the very best healing environment for children.”

Birmingham Children’s Hospital opened in 1862, providing a wide range of paediatric services for children and young people. Since then it has been delivering first class medical treatment and leading the way in child health. It was the first to fit a pacemaker into a three-day-old baby, and the first to separate conjoined twins. Now, Birmingham Children’s Hospital is looking to the future, and with support from the public will be able to transform the present city-centre site into one of the most powerful and iconic developments in Europe.
