Buskers to sing for homeless

Submitted by paulartherton on 25 September, 2006 - 00:00.

Belfast's first ever busking festival will raise money for local homeless charity the Simon Community. The Open House Festival will run from September 27th to October 1st.

According to festival director Kieran Gilmore, the link with homeless people began last year when they ran Hobo Day featuring the music of ex-hobo 'Seasick' Steve and the documentary film Hobo by local film maker John T Davis.

"All monies raised by this innovative and entertaining event will be used to directly assist those who unfortunately will be sleeping rough on our streets this winter," Carol O'Bryan, Simon's chief executive said.
