CAF Grantseeker CD-ROM

I have finally received the CD-ROM version of CAF's database, after
ordering before Christmas.

I find that the print option does not work on my version. I get an error
message referring to a printer error and odd lights come on on the printer.
When I print something else, I get a page with the heading of the
Grantseeker page, and then the second print normally. Printing from help
works perfectly.

I can export information to other applications and print from there.

Is this a fault on my copy, or is it happening to everybody?

OK Roger, so what's the fix?

I cannot export anything from the CD, either to printer or any other programme.

The Instal does not appear to have worked as intended, since I do not
have a shortcut from a desktop icon.

So far, I'm very disappointed with this disk, and I am seriously
considering returning it. 150.00 for an on-screen version of the
books is a bit over-the-top.

I'd be very pleased to hear that I'm doing something wrong, or that a
simple fix on my W95 (installed from new) will make this CD what I
hoped it would be - the best fundraising tool since the collecting box!

More details on the printing bug in Grantseeker. It appears to only occur
in Win95 (& NT?), and only where Win95 was done as a clean install, not an
update from Win3.x. We believe that it is a font selection error.

CharityNet is fine. We re launched a new look site on 1st August. There
were a few teething troubles, we lost the system disk on the server the
day of the relaunch, and we're now using a lot of cgi and, as a result,
the machine ran out of memory. Since then (7th August) it's been fine,
and you should be able to get through. If you have any trouble, give me a
ring (Office hours) and I'll try and sort them.

This is a bug that has now become apparent. It does not occur on all
configurations, and was not reported by any of our testers. There are
currently two know versions of the bug, the first is as presented by
Martin Price. In the second only the header and nothing else is printed.

The developers are currently working on the problem. If anyone would care
to forward more details to me I will get them to the appropriate person.

I've had the demo disk, and I ordered my copy by FAX last Friday.

The demo is not startling - nothing more nor less than expected - and
I'll post some views when the full version arrives.

BTW, what's happened to Charitynet? I can't raise them at all now.

Cheers.

Martin Price mentioned problems with the "CD-ROM version of CAF's database".

We have at least one subscriber from CAF on FundUK, so we might hear from
them. Otherwise I'd be very interested in any other reactions from users to
the Grantseeker now it is available. I'm sure there are other potential
purchasers out there who'd be interested in feedback.
