Hi
Does anyone have experience of running a viral marketing
campaign?
I am trying to find out what a reasonable amount would be to pay
for creative. Also what sort of price for list rental to kick-start the
campaign.
Many thanks,
Katherine

re: viral marketing
There is also
www.viralbank.com
which lists a wide range of viral campaigns run by many different organisations. Although they are predominantly commercial companies, search under "charity" and you'll find 17 charity-related viral e-mail examples. And of course you might get some good ideas from some of the non-charity examples.
There is also ViralMonitor, an e-mail list "for those who want to be amongst the first to know about the latest online viral marketing campaigns":

A site that includes some of the funnier but also less tasteful examples of viral campaigns is

Katherine,
There's a very good american website called www.clickz.com which may be able
to give you some background on viral marketing. The last list broker I spoke
to told me that the constituents of email lists in the UK are still very
volatile especially B2B lists.
