Does anyone know how to generate income from used, mainly British, postage
stamps ?

Hi, Claire
You will have a local stamp dealer, who will probably be prepared to
have a look at them. However, you will need to sort them out - separate
the generics (ordinary 1st and 2nd class etc) from the specials, and
highlight any that may be particularly interesting.
The ordinary ones can be sold by weight (long time since I've had a
price, but it wouldn't have been worth it for the work required to steam
them off the envelopes and count them - seriously - for the dealer).
Specials may be worth a bit more.
However, unless you have a friendly neighbourhood philatelist who is
prepared to give a significant amout of time, or unless you have
branches and correspondents all over the world, I'm afraid stamps are
unlikely to be worth the rent you're paying on the storage space! Goes
against the grain, I know, but that's the way it is.
Sorry!
Cheers
Gerry
