Re: problems recruiting
Following the discussion about issues that help to recruit and retain
fundraisers, we are interested in what motivates people and what
charities can do to make sure they are good organisations to work for. The
Sunday
Times "2003 Best Companies to Work For" survey published two weeks ago found
that companies that allowed their staff to work flexibly reaped handsome
dividends.
THINK Consulting Solutions are currently conducting a survey to find out
which factors are the most important to fundraisers. We want fundraisers
from across the sector to let us know what it is about their organisation
that really motivates them and we are going to publish the results in
Professional Fundraising magazine - for everyone=B9s benefit. We want to
celebrate those charities that are doing a good job and find out which
organisations are considered to be the "Top Charities to Work For" in
the UK. If you want to find out more or take part in the survey simply click
here:

THE CLOSING DATE FOR THE SURVEY IS FRIDAY 21 MARCH
(This is the first time this type of survey has been run, so to keep the
numbers manageable we have had to limit entry to charities with over £2m
Voluntary Income. Apologies to smaller charities. If we get a good =
response we will try and extend our coverage next year.)

Dear Donna,
Thanks for your feedback. Fair comment!
I am sorry that smaller charities have been excluded from the initiative.
This is our first attempt at this sort of survey and we felt that we should
aim it at charities where there is some sort of fundraising "team" to have
some comparability of data. We therefore selected the larger charities, but
hopefully not just the very large. We were also unsure of the level of
response that we would get to a new initiative, so this was also a way of
containing that.
If the survey is well received this year, we will hopefully be able to
extend the scope in future to include all charities, truly irrespective of
size.
Thanks again for the feedback. I'm glad your charity is a good place to
work!

I notice you are only looking at charities with an income over £2m. I reckon
the big guys could learn an awful lot from the small guys. But I'll keep the
secrets of my current happiness to myself!
