Funding for a Charity Shop - Can anyone help point me in right direction?

Submitted by Anonymous on 17 May, 2004 - 14:37.

Hello there

My name is Andrew Dalton from Trinity Youth Association in Northumberland, England. We are currently hoping to open a charity shop in the local area and are looking for funders who could help? Could anyone please point me in the right direction as I am having a tough time with this one!

My email address is drewdalton@trinityyouth.org.uk

I will check this site regularly for any feedback

Thank you everyone!

You don't mention the resources you have already checked. Trustfunding.org.uk, funderfinder.org.uk, grantsonline.co.uk, your local CVS etc. (UK Fundraising Forum doesn't function well as a first port of call for funding enquiries, not with 180,000 charities out there all seeking funding!)

Have you tried the Association of Charity Shops? Their members must have faced the same problem quite a lot:

Alternatively, might this not simply be a case of a bank loan? You could try the various charity-friendly or -focused banks out there - Charity Bank, Triodos etc.
