can anyone point me in the right direction, i have contacted about 30 charities but most of them can't even be bothered to reply.

RE: Charity Stamps
am always happy to help any charity out by taking stamps off their hands, good to know the money is going to where it's needed
Charity Stamps
I buy any kiloware stamps at between £1.50 and £16 per kilo, depending on quality and countries represented. All UK definitives would be £1.50, all unusual foreign countries £16, anything else would fall somewhere in between.
You can either sort it and send it, or get people to send it direct to me, saving you the postage costs. I will grade it, weigh it, and send you an e-mail with source and payment details. I will then send a cheque or transfer direct into your account if your prefer.
I also buy collections, mint stamps, publications and anything else related to philately.
Please contact me at the e-mail below:

RE: Charity Stamps
I'm always happy to buy recent unpicked charity (UK or World) up to any amount. I pay £4 for GB, £10 for World (Per kilogram)
Happy to set up regular contract and also to collect larger amounts within about a 100 mile radius of Bristol.
Cash paid.
Can provide references. I sell direct to collectors so can offer more than most others. MUST be unpicked and unsorted in any way!

Philip, how do you intend to raise money from this exercise ?
Most charities are contracted to sell their stamps direct to wholesalers, and as such will not have any spare
I buy most of my material this way
If you are going to buy at wholesale rates then sell at retail, you could make a profit, but you will need to sell an awful lot to make any substantial funds
You are probably best , asking your members to start accumulating their stamps. You will be surprised how quickly this will esculate, especially if they advise their friends etc etc etc.
If you have a newsletter that goes out to your members, be sure to advertsise that you are collecting.
Trust this helps, but if you need any further info email me direct ( david@dha-ltd.co.uk)

sorry if my first post was not clear.
I am willing to pay for any stamps. I am not looking to get them free.
thanks
How much are you willing to pay? Our charity has started collecting stamps but as yet we haven't tried to sell any. The stamps are a mixture of everything donated to us and they haven't been picked over at all. I was considering offering them for sale through our local paper as unpicked charity kiloware.

RE: Charity Stamps
actually I will happily pay £2.75 per kilo and donate to any charity
RE: Charity Stamps
In case anyone has stamps to sell you can list them on ebay. I sold our 4kg of mixed stamps for £20 wich was a good price. I shan't be collecting them again as it took too long to cut them all off the envelopes and the time could have been better spent doing something else. Oh well, the charity now has £20 that it wouldn't have had otherwise.

RE: Charity Stamps
I have 4kg of kiloware which has been collected for our charity. It's completely unpicked. Some of it is on double paper but a lot of it is close clipped. It's mostly GB but there are a lot of foreign as well. Would anyone like to purchase this? I live in Cornwall if you want to collect it or I can post it otherwise.
RE: Charity Stamps
This question has come up quite a few times on this forum.
Have a look at the thread at

which includes links to other posts where I answered this question, based on my own experience.
RE: Charity Stamps
Can anyone give me some advice on how to raise money through collecting stamps, even postcards and foreign money. I hear people saying that they are collecting for a charity, what I want to know is what happens to the stamps once the charity has them. Who do they sell the stamps on to?
I know that you have to collect an awful lot, but every little helps.
Nikkie

Hello, I am now able to pay £3.50 per kilo of used stamps. There is no need to sort the stamps, just e-mail me and let me know how much you have in weight, the more you have the better, as the postage costs are cheaper. I will refund all postage costs as well so there are no costs to yourselves. Drop me an e-mail to discuss this further. info@bristolstamps.co.ukThanks....John

I'm a little unclear as to what sort of charity you're approaching. Even if they have a surplus of stamps, which seems an odd thing for a charity to have, if their charitable objects don't include lupus I can quite see why they mightn't want to incur the cost of replying, and if they do include lupus, I expect they believe they can use the money from the stamps more effectively by hanging onto them than by giving them to another organisation. I can't help thinking that "the right direction" is probably diametrically opposed to a big stamp fundraising drive...
RE: Charity Stamps
I wonder if that's because those charities that collect donated stamps were hoping to raise money from them themselves? Perhaps if you offered to share the proceeds with the charities they might be more responsive?
That said, given how hard it is to raise significant sums from stamps, you'd have hoped that some of those charities would have been happy to see their sacks of stamps being turned into cash for charity, albeit not their own.
