The organisation I work for has recently taken over a US charity with the same core aims as our own. In the US we now have a supporter base, ground staff and an established programme and are in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) status. We have our acknowledgment letter, and may have to wait 3-18 months for our determination letter.
What I would like to do is hire a consultant to outline for the organisation how our current situation impacts on our ability to fundraise - do we have to wait for the determination letter for example? I've tried contacting some of the well-known names in US fundraising, but they keep trying to sell us places on pre-existing training courses when we actually want something more tailored.
If anyone here has any (positive) experiences of consultants and would be willing to recommend them I'd be glad to hear any suggestions - the people we are in touch with at the moment seem too keen on selling to us without listening to what we actually want!

RE: Fundraising from America
Hi Karen,
Yes, I took Howards advice and went with Chapel & York who provided an excellent day with some very useful advice that actually went beyond our initial remit.
I have now moved on from WDCS so if you are interested in working with them then I would suggest approaching them directly via their offices in Wiltshire.
Thanks

RE: Fundraising from America
Rachel- I'm curious to know if you found a consultant to work with you? I am a consultant working in the US and the UK. Did you find what you needed?
RE: Fundraising from America
I've always been impressed by the services of Chapel & York in this area, so would suggest you contact them if you haven't already.
