Currently I work for a company that provides database software for non-profit organisations. I am leaving this job soon as I am planning to relocate to another part of the country. I have enjoyed dealing with charities and I would be interested in staying in the sector. Does anyone have any advice on where to start? I have excellent IT skills but feel that my charity knowledge is lacking.
Thanks in advance

RE: Where to begin?
Working for a Charity offers courses designed to introduce people to a career in the voluntary sector:

Also try going to some of the Insitute of Fundraising IT special interest group meetings. They're also launching another group focused on data management.

See if IT4communities could help you, at least while you're still with your current employer. It encourages companies, employees and individuals with professional IT skills to volunteer these skills for the benefit of local charities and community groups.

Good luck.
